About this collection

The majority of architectural drawings in this collection are those shared by the Asheville Art Museum. They are part of a collaborative grant project called "Ashevilles Built Environment" and represent mainly the work of Richard Sharp Smith and Albert Heath Carrier. The "Ashevilles Built Environment" (ABE) project was supported by a Library Services and Technology Act grant which included the UNCA Special Collections, Asheville Historic Resources Commission, Asheville Art Museum, Pack Library, and the Young Mens Institute (YMI). The architectural drawings include the work of Douglas Ellington and Richard Sharp Smith and others. The drawings are largely drawn from the holdings of the Asheville Art Museum, while some items are derived from the D.H. Ramsey Library Special Collections, and from the Asheville-Buncombe County Historic Resources Commission.
